I thought rebuilding at 40 meant I had failed
This story briefly discusses job loss and anxiety.
For months I treated every beginning as proof that I had arrived too late.
I watched younger people move quickly and mistook their pace for evidence that mine was wrong. The hardest part was not starting over. It was admitting that I wanted a different life.
One small routine changed things: each evening I wrote down one thing I understood that morning-me did not. Progress became quieter, but it became mine.
You can be proud of surviving one chapter and still choose a different next page.
I am not sharing this because everything is fixed. I am sharing it because being unfinished no longer feels like failure.
